.::SHINE::.
God is so awesome! He’s totally purposed and planned this theme for both of us to be able to share with you! It’s been such an incredible experience seeing how God’s brought this entire theme together! This idea came together through God’s planning in that he placed it upon the hearts of us both.
Mary Beth’s idea was to use “shine”.... Reggie's idea was to use “reflecting Christ.” So when the two of us talked through our campaign, God showed us that *shine* and *reflect* go hand in hand together – there couldn’t have been a better match…
So what does it mean to shine?
To SHINE means: to glow or be bright with reflected light, light from another source. So the foundation of *shining* is *reflecting*. To REFLECT means: to show an image of. We must realize that being a light in this dark world is not something we can do on our own – it’s not about who we are, what we do, where we go, or who all we know – it’s not about us at all…. it’s all about God. It’s about reflecting Him. So in reflecting Him, we shine :)
The fact that God so purposefully put the two of us on the same track just shows how AWESOME He is. That’s why we are so excited about all God has planned – and this is only the beginning!
It is out distinct privilege as Christians to be the light in a dark world... to be set apart:
- 2 Corinthians 4:6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
- Matthew 5:14 You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.
- Matthew 5:16 In the same way let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
Because we are called to be set apart we should examine ourselves to see what exactly our life reflects. Are we reflecting the light of Christ? Does the music we listen to, the shows we watch, the places we go, the things we say, the people we hang out with, the attitudes we have, and the everyday actions of our lives reflect the character of a righteous and holy God?
So it is our challenge to you: are you *SHINING* for Him?
So it is our challenge to you: are you *SHINING* for Him?
